Hope you've had a great week!
Here's our favorite Pigeon book from last week and the observations we made about our graph
We practiced letters and letter sounds last week. We watched Alphabet Lost and Found by They Might Be Giants.
Then we went on our own alphabet hunt to find all the letters! We practiced saying their names, making their sounds, and putting them in order.
In my math group, we have been discussing the attributes of different objects to sort and graph them. We played a fun guessing game to practice those attributes.
We went to Media for the second time last week! Our check out day will be on Wednesday, so please be sure to send your child's book back on that day. Kids can also check out books in the mornings if they finish their books in less than a week!
On Friday, we read Mo Willems's Happy Pig Day! and celebrated Pig Day in our classroom.
The kids made pig hats and snouts.
We painted our favorite Mo Willems character.
We danced pig dances.
We ate a pig snack!
It was a super fun way to end our Mo Willems author study. Oinky oink oink! (That's "Happy Pig Day!" in Pig, according to Piggie.)
The kids picked their favorite Elephant and Piggie book at the end of the day. There are so many good ones to choose from!
Although we are finished with this unit at school, I hope you and your child will continue to read these amazing books at home! We have tons in our school library, and you can find them at the public library as well.
Lastly, check out two of our hallway displays. We made a story quilt to share things about ourselves with the rest of the friends in our class.
We read Mo Willems's book My Friend is Sad, then wrote about a new friend we've made in K-1. The kids used oil pastels and drew beautiful pictures of themselves and their new friends!
Happy First Day of Fall! I hope you are all having wonderful weekends.
